KCMS CHORAL ENSEMBLES
The KCMS Choral Program enrolls a variety of students with differing talent and skill sets. Each ensemble learns to work together in a given parameter for a common goal: MUSIC LITERACY. Students learn the aural art of music making through a prescribed process of SOUND before SIGHT and a dissection of rhythms and pitches.
6TH GRADE & SIGNATURE SINGERS
The 6th grade Choral Section includes students in the elite Waynesboro Signature Singers, those who sign up for a full year of chorus, and those who sign up for a single semester. These students learn the basics of reading music notation and have some basic composition experience. We focus more on the sounds associated with simple melodies and the actual "how to" of hearing.

The entire 6th grade chorus performs on 2 concerts each academic year: Winter and Spring.

The Signature Singers perform 5 times each academic year: Woodrow Wilson Rehab Graduation, KCMS Winter Concert, WPS Celebration of the Arts, KCMS Spring Concert, and at Busch Gardens Choral Festival.
7TH GRADE CHORUS
The 7th Grade Chorus has 2 sections. Each section begins with a review of concepts covered in 6th grade, then builds upon those concepts. Each section takes a different level, depending on the needs of the group. Each section has students who have chosen to either take a full year or single semester of chorus. We further the work of being musically literate by adding written music dictation, not just the aural version.

The entire 7th grade chorus performs 2 concerts each academic year: Winter and Spring.

Students who choose to take a full year of chorus will also perform at the Busch Gardens Choral Festival in the Spring.
8TH GRADE CHORUS
The 8th grade Chorus has 2 sections. Both sections are for the full academic year. Each section takes on Music Literacy by reviewing concepts from both 6th and 7th grade years in the Fall Semester before taking a bigger step into written dictation and part singing in the Spring. These students work daily to improve their musicality.

The entire 8th grade performs on the Winter and Spring Concerts AND at the Busch Gardens Choral Festival.
